Adware Fact Sheets
These software applications are called by many different names:
Spyware, Adware, Parasiteware™, Theftware, Parasites and Scumware
to name a few. For our purposes we will call them adware which indicates
any software application whose primary purpose is to deliver advertising
to the end user.
AFP will provide summaries of our testing results for adware with
a focus on their behaviors in relation to their revenue generation.
AffiliateFairPlay.com has opted to move away from labeling an adware
application. as "clean" or not. There is a lack of consensus
within the Affiliate Marketing Industry as to the definition of
'clean' and Standards of Practice. Instead, AFP will test specific
behaviors of the adware which potentially impact upon an Affiliate's
or Merchant's revenue and/or traffic and those behaviors which tend
to be controversial. We will only provide objective information
as to whether or not behaviors were observed and each individual
can assess the importance of the overall results.
